Join us for a tour of Blacktown Mental Health Recovery Centre, a new 44-bed medium and low forensic care facility being built on the Blacktown Hospital campus.
As a replacement for the existing Bunya unit, this care facility moves away from the traditional institutional design concept and instead targets a residential style. The project team has created an emphasis on a welcoming, comfortable, homely feeling, allowing consumers to feel safe, relaxed and at ease with their environment. Consumers are encouraged to participate in rehabilitation by giving them spaces for activities and quiet, such as the garden area where they can re-energize and relax, thus achieving the main focus of the facility, being care and rehabilitation.
Special thanks to NBRS for supporting the Australian Health Design Council in organising this site visit which is exclusive to our members. Tickets are limited to 20 and available exclusively for AHDC members on a first-come, first-served basis, so please be mindful when booking your ticket.
