Our Mission

To be the lead professional organisation sharing knowledge, information, technology, research innovation and experience to promote consistency and enhance the quality and effectiveness of health facility design across all projects (in both the public and private sectors).

To be the prime professional body that facilitates networking between health design professionals across Australia.

    Our Aims

To promote high quality, efficient, effective and safe health facility design that responds to the needs of the Australian populace, in terms of respecting the rights and requirements of patients, the health workforce, the community in a sustainable natural/built environment.

To facilitate the exchange of feedback and comments provided by health facility design professionals to the designated bodies on the Australian health strategies, processes, procedures and design guidelines.

Our Objectives

  • To evaluate promote innovation in health facility design, and disseminate results for feedback, debate and improved performance .
  • To promote training and education in health facility design to ensure the long-term sustainability of the industry.
  • To provide an expert voice for health design professions in dealing with government and other policymakers regarding matters that affect the design or delivery of high-quality healthcare facilities.
  • To align with other agencies in the sector to share knowledge, understand goals and objectives to improve health facility design and procurement in accordance with the aims above.
  • To bring together health design professionals for networking and knowledge sharing purposes. 

About AHDC

The AHDC is a non-government organisation of professionals involved and/or interested in quality design of health facilities and is the conduit between knowledge providers and knowledge users in Australian health design.
