John Temple

John is a UK registered architect with over 25 years of international experience in the industry with a focus on Healthcare Briefing, Design and Delivery.

John’s passion has always been the development of clear and informative brief information and a concept that helps ensure the strategic design is developed into high quality detail product that meets, if not preferably exceeds, the requirements.   His experience includes the development of Research, Briefing and Strategy along with the design and construction of healthcare buildings varying from small community and primary care facilities (<1 million AUD) to major acute and university/teaching hospitals and research facilities (>2 billion AUD).

Johns’ involvement in healthcare briefing and design started at the Medical Architecture Research Unit in London (MARU) with primary and community care facilities and continued with mental health facilities as a founding director of maap architects (now medical architecture UK and maap architects Australia).   This was followed by work on acute hospital design with, among others, the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust PFI (Nightingale Associates, now IBI Group), the Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi (HDR/Aedas) and the CHUM Montreal (Cannon Design + NEUF). John has been an advisor to tier 1 contractors for the design and delivery of major projects around the world and was also an architectural advisor to the Department of Health (DoH) in the UK for over 15 years and has been involved in producing design guidance for DoH England, Scotland, Health Estates Northern Ireland and The Basque Regional Government in Spain.

John is currently Secretary of The Australian Health Design Council and a Member of the Leadership Committee for the South Pacific Chapter of the International Academy of Design and Health.
